# Condition of Class

A Condition of Class is an instruction or requirement issued by a Classification Society that must be fulfilled by a vessel within a specified time frame in order for the ship to maintain its class status.

When a surveyor from the classification society identifies a defect, deficiency, or area that needs attention (for example, during an annual or intermediate survey), they may impose a Condition of Class. This means the ship remains “in class,” but only on the condition that the specified repairs, inspections, or corrective actions are completed within the set deadline.

Can be handled in the same way as described in the audit & inspection module.
